iPad 101: Uses for One iPad in the Classroom

Even though a classroom set of iPads would be ideal, it is not always economically feasible for us to have access to an iPad for every student. In my opinion, it is still worth having access to even one iPad. Below are some ideas for using one iPad as an instructional device in the classroom:
  • Use it as a motivational device! Reward good behavior, excellent performance, extraordinary kindness with iPad time on an educational app.
  • Use it as a center. There are a number of apps that allow multiple students to be on the app at one time. With some scaffolding and close monitoring, students can engage in one of these multi-person apps during center time.
  • Use it during small group instruction. Students can take turns answering questions when working in small reading or math groups.
  • Use it to take Accelerated Reader quizzes. It is so easy for small hands to tap the screen instead of manipulating the computer mouse. In addition, it provides one more platform for students to use during  AR time!
  • Use it with a projector and Reflection to display your iPad screen for the class.
  • Use it with a projector and Doceri to manipulate your desktop using your iPad. This enables you to move more freely throughout the room and still control your computer!
I am always finding new and impressive ways to utilize iPads as an instruction tool. Follow my iPads! Pinterest board to discover even more ideas for using iPads in the classroom!

This is a very short list of the possibilities. Can you think of even more and share them below?
